Our ATA Karate for Kids is a specialized program for children ages 7-12 years old to learn the fundamentals of Taekwondo.

The ATA Karate for Kids program is perfect for families looking for an activity that is not just great exercise but that also teaches their children lessons they will use throughout their life. 

Our goal is that at the completion of this program, our students have developed self-confidence, self-determination, and a never quit attitude, not only inside our studio but everywhere in their lives.

The foundation of the Karate for Kids curriculum is the education and development of life-skills such as positive mental attitude, high goal setting, perseverance, self-control and confidence.

Our Karate for Kids program has helped our students learn Discipline, Self-Esteem and Respect.

By combining the Discipline of traditional martial arts, learning Respect through life skill development and the Self-Esteem gained through our unique reward system, your child will advance in this program while reaching their fullest potential.

Our Karate for Kids students will learn Songahm Taekwondo techniques, forms, and self-defense techniques. As our students develop in strength and skill, we add more complex physical skills, including sparring and weapons training.

Our program is designed to be challenging and exciting for all students. In addition, the students learn respect for others, focus, discipline, self-control and several other life skills.   

Karate for Kids FAQ's

“Karate” has become a term that is widely used to describe martial arts. Karate is a large umbrella term that encompassed many different forms of martial arts: taekwondo, kung fu, jujitsu, etc.

In our studio, our martial arts focus is Songahm Taekwondo or Korean Taekwondo.

Absolutely! No previous experience required.

All of our students without previous experience begin in our White belt class.

Yes! All our students are required to wear a uniform to each class.

Uniforms are included as part of enrollment into the ATA Karate for Kids progam.

Our Karate for Kids classes are 45-60 minutes depending on their rank.

We separate our classes by experience level:

  • Beginners: White – Yellow
  • Intermediate: Camo – Blue
  • Advanced: Brown-Red
  • Black Belt Level: Red/Black and above

Yes! Your child will earn a 1st degree black belt at the completion of the Karate for Kids program.

It will take a Karate for Kids student approximately 30 months to complete the ATA Karate for Kids program if he/she attends 2 classes per week consistently and does not miss any belt graduations.

Keep in mind: Taekwondo is an individual activity rather than a team sport, Karate for Kids training is designed to be fun and fulfilling for each student. Therefore every student is an active and valuable participant in class. They work out with kids their own age and progress at their own pace. 

Just like all sports, ATA students will have the opportunity to compete in in-school, regional, and national competitions. 

Taekwondo is an individual activity rather than a team sport. Therefore if your child does not wish to participate in competitions, they will not be penalized or miss out on any opportunities because of that choice. However, if your child is interested in competing in tournaments, our school will support them 100% with access to additional competittion focused classes, private lessons, and the unique opportunity to work directly with our Chief Instructor.
